Audiovisual Services

Audiovisual translation consists of the transfer between two languages of the verbal elements contained in audiovisual products, such as movies and TV series, documentaries, video games or videos in general. The peculiarity is that this kind of content is meant to be heard and seen at the same time, which requires a different type of translation approach.

I offer different audiovisual services in English, Italian and Spanish:

  • Transcription – the very first step of any audiovisual non-scripted project, may it be an interview or some recordings to be used for a second mean (i.e. subtitling). Regardless of what you need the transcription for, with over seven years’ experience, I am the professional you are looking for!
  • Subtitling – the most cost-effective audiovisual practice: having your video subtitled in many languages boosts engagement and improves the viewing experience of the users. According to research, multilingual subtitling increases your complete video views by 84%!
    • Subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing (SFD) and closed captioning (CC)- subtitling is also the most widespread tool for access to the media for people who are hard of hearing, since it allows for a written translation of the spoken text, giving people with any degree of deafness access to audiovisual materials. With my knowledge of SFD and CC in four countries (Italy, Spain, United States, United Kingdom), I can make your audiovisual content accessible to a broader audience in an accurate, culturally sensitive, and inclusive way.
  • Script translation and adaptation – with dubbing becoming more popular than ever, with a growth of the demand by 120% annually according to Netflix’s stats, movies and series script translation and adaptation requires a specific focus on both the text and the video parts, making sure what is written matches the lip movement of the actors, as well as it is culturally aware of the target audience.
    • Voice over – it could be considered as a branch of movie translation, I handle translation for voice over applied to different types of media genres, such as:
      • Documentaries (series and feature films)
      • Interviews
      • News and other informational programs
      • Infomercials
      • Reality shows
      • Video games
      • Corporate or promotional videos, presentations, e-Learning, educational videos, instructional videos, etc.
